Black Blossoms.....

Thought I'd share this pic of a recent pair of earrings I made using a couple of Czech glass flower beads, little sterling silver beads, sterling silver wire and of course ear wires.

  Instead of buying ball headed pins, I made my own using the wire and small beads to keep costs down and I think they look quite nice =)

April Craft Britannia Treasure-Thon....

 It's Spring!  There's sunshine, flowers on the trees and chocolate in the form of Easter eggs =)  Here are the two treasuries I made with lots of Spring inspired finds.

As you can see there are lots of rabbits & flowers included in these treasuries.

Enjoy =)

Fossil Beach......

Couldn't you look at these beads and visualize them as part of a crumbling sedimentary rock face that's been eroded by time and the elements.  The type you might see as you walk along a beach were you might find fossils, seaglass and shells.......

These beautiful beads were made by Sue Doran, a British Lampwork Bead artisan.  The original version of these beads was inspired by her experience whilst on holiday in Northumberland.  She had been reading "Walks on the Northumberland Coast" by David Haffey and happened to find one of the Hag-Stones which are thought to be good luck, that he had described in his book.

Well I've teamed these lovelies with nautilus and some of my favorite solid faceted beads, in fine silver which are Karen Hill Tribe and Fair trade.

I took these pictures at sunset, but I think the lighting still shows the colours and detail well enough for me to post them =)

Atlantis Necklace.....

 I've had these Lampwork beads for a while and wanted to create a sea themed necklace using them.  Originally I wanted to use various stones, maybe even small pearls, but in the end I chose to just keep it simple and use some gorgeous smooth round blue Kyanite beads that I have.  I used 22g goldfilled wire, as the lampwork beads are quite heavy and luckily I was able to fit the Kyanite beads onto this as well.   I'm keeping this one!  It sits very nicely just bellow my collar bone and was comfortable to wear =)  To match I made very simple earrings just using a single Kyanite bead on each one with a little goldfilled bead at each end of it.
I think this picture shows the colours in the central focal beads better =)

Fairytales from the Inner Rainbow....

As a member of the British Emporia team on Etsy, I take part in a weekly themed team treasury event, where we all create a treasury each for that weeks theme and then jointly promote them online on Wednesday evening from 7pm GMT.

This week the theme was indigo violet.  I think you'll agree that quiet often in fairytales you'll find woods, queens, princesses, crowns, pendants, flowers and there's even a famous shoe or two somewhere in the mix & a puss in boots.   Of course I had to include some iolite in the treasury, as this gem stone is normally violet-blue or indigo in colour.  Iolite is also know as water sapphire and I included the lovely raindrops photo by Murry Bolesta and blue mosaic earrings by Creating Trouble, as they reminded me of this aspect of the stone and a pond where there once was a frog prince =)
 Here are a lovely pair of earrings you might find in the realm of the inner rainbow =)
